1. Not Again 04:22

The two most threatening problems of today are, without much doubt, the climate collapse and the resurgence of right-wing, fascist ideology all across Europe, the US, and the world.

The former Babu Menos has addressed with several songs. Now it’s high time for the latter: “Not Again” is a protest song that expresses great concern about the increasing violence in both language and action, and at the same time reminds us of our capacity for solidarity and empathy.

“Ninety years ago men in brown took over” — setting the scene, this line opens the first verse, while the chorus ends with, “Humans are much better than that”, thus instilling hope. “Not Again” is a call to action for the majority of human beings who still feel the urgent need to save and nurture democracy.

Without a “We,” the “I” will be lost.

— LYRICS —

Chorus:

Not again
Hist’ry don’t need repeat
Not again
We can’t afford defeat
Not again
Don’t go back down that road
Not again
Humans are much — better than that

Verse 1:

Ninety years ago men in brown took over
Killed and maimed from Crete up to almost Dover
All the beauty, all the brilliance, all the kindness
Smashed by mindless
Fear of humanity, hate for humans

Verse 2:

Only days ago someone posted online
How they want to hurt everyone not in line
All the kind and colourful and brilliant beings
Who keep feeling
Who still know what makes humans human

Breakdown:

We are many, we are canny
See, we can’t be beat by these tiny …

Verse 3:

… Men in brown who try to again take over
But we’ll never let them, we’ll never go there
We will stand our ground for all who stand for freedom
We will feed’em
They will feed us, we all will flower
